This new 3-story, 98,400 sf building on the Sutter Roseville Medical Center campus is filled with local art that we curated with a large art committee that included the master plan project director, interior design team, foundation, auxiliary, and clinical director. For over three years, we collaborated with the project team to develop an art package that celebrates nature and highlights local artists in creative ways that suit an OSHPD environment. For example, we selected one artist to design a series of digital paintings that were produced on commercial wall coverings at each elevator lobby. The chosen material has a texture close to cotton rag paper, giving the pieces the feel of original art but with the durability and cleanability of a commercial product. Another design was produced on acoustic paneling material, turning a necessary functional item into a piece of art. Local photography was produced on Corian panels that slide away to reveal oxygen outlets in the lobby. A major highlight of the building is a permanent Local Artists Gallery in a long transition corridor between the new and existing building.
